When I began going through this book, I didn't know what to make out of it. However, as I went on and on, everything began falling into place. “So-so” by Nicholas A. Ventura is a collection of random thoughts in literature by the author. I’m amazed by how he managed to put together this masterpiece. It is a combination of different branches of literature into one.

This book is categorised into six. First, we have the prologue, which informs readers of things to expect from the book. Next is the poetry, which contains a collection of selected poems from the author. Then comes the prose and short stories. These genres combine to help readers understand the author’s thought patterns and view of the world in general. There are strong themes portrayed, such as nature, mental health, and love. I mostly enjoyed the piece on ‘Depression’, because it’s an emotion many find relatable. The piece ‘Give up, says the cold world’ is another piece I find inspirational, as it encourages readers to keep going even in the face of challenges.

In the book’s epilogue, the author listed various images, such as hand sketches, graffiti, and handwriting. However, aside from the attached locations and dates, the author failed to provide descriptions that would’ve helped readers for better clarification of these images. Nevertheless, this aspect doesn't affect its book’s rating, as it didn’t affect the book's comprehension. It is a seamless blend of various literature genres, which some will find an appealing read. I also didn’t come across any errors while reading.

This is also my first time coming across a book that combines these genres into one piece. For these reasons, I would rate "So-so” 5 out of 5 stars. The book is ideal for a mature audience—those who are interested in exploring different ideas through the use of multiple writing styles.
