The novel Sip Lake is written by Joseph Basara. It started with Owen Cloud being persuaded by his friend, Harry, to come to Cypress City and start a new life there shortly after he came back from the Navy. A few weeks after getting settled in Cypress City, he started working at the hospital there as an orderly, and what came next was a series of events that challenged him and gave him new experiences. Did he regret coming down to Cypress City? Did he find the love and purpose he was looking for? Read the book to find out.

I got an opportunity to read a short novel, and I couldn't be more glad I read it because I learned so many things about relationships with people. The first is Harry's open marriage. I've only heard the word "open marriage" before; however, Sip Lake gave me firsthand experience of what it means. I concluded that it’s either one's ready to commit to a marriage or stay unmarried. I'm glad Sip Lake opened my eyes to this truth.

The second thing that stood out for me is the characters in the book; the most inspiring for me is that of the protagonist, Owen. He displayed a lot of wisdom and loyalty with his friendships; everyone needs someone like Owen in their life! It takes a lot to be a good friend to someone like Harry. Another character that stood out for me is Marianne; she's so warm and easy to click with and befriend.

The third thing that stood out for me is the hospital experience Joseph Basara gave me with this book. Reading about several hospital patients forced me to take a moment, pause, and appreciate God for good health. Aside from that, it was a great reminder that I should take my health seriously while I'm still young to avoid fatal consequences in old age.

With these few positive points of mine and so many more that this writing won't allow me to pen down, I can say that I didn't find anything to dislike about Sip Lake. The editing was top-notch; what's more, Joseph Basara added the right amount of humor to make it lively for me. I give Sip Lake a rating of 5 out of 5 stars due to the above reasons. I recommend this book to lovers of fictional novels.
