I rate this book 4 out of 4

The book; Strong Heart by Charlie Sheldon, was an enjoyable book. The storyline was unique and like none other I have read before. It took place in Kamchatka, where Native American people live.

The charcters in the story were relatable, and Each Character had her/ his own distinguished personality, that was clearly well thought out. People of all ages, could relate to at least one of the characters since the ages of the characters varied from 13 years old to "not quite 70".

In the book, Tom Olsen is getting ready with his Native American friends to go on a camping trip. Out of the blue, his ex-wife and a mysterious 13 year old girl, show up at His door. When William (one of Tom's friends) opens the door, the lady comes rushing in holding the girl's hand. Ruth, Tom's ex-wife, then proceeds to explains to Tom, that this girl is in fact his granddaughter and the child of his diseased daughter who had run away at the age of 15. Tom decides to take Sarah, his newfound granddaughter on the camping trip. The camping trip later turns into a jurney full of myths and adventure. Especially so for Sarah, who ends up going back many years to the time of the ice age, living out the historical myths of the park, coming back with a new talent for throwing arrows, plus a story to tell to her grandpa and his friends.

This book is kind of a 2 in one story, since after Sarah comes back from this trip to the past, she Tells her grandpa and his friends what happened a while later. The story she tells about her experience is equally, if not more, intriguing then the original story going on.

Although the book was great, I do believe the beginning use some extra work. I personally think that the writing in the beginning didn't have as strong of a hook as it potentially could have had. Despite the fact that I didn't like the beginning all that much, it wasn't bad enough that I would take off a point from rating. After the beginning, it has only gotten better and more interesting.

If you love stories about myths, adventures, or even mysteries this is the book for you! Even if you have never read much about myths or legends, and you are open to trying something new, I would definetly recommend it. This book would be a great addition to any book shelf.
