Review of Still Doing Time

[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Still Doing Time" by Wanda Adams Fischer.]
“Still Doing Time” is a sequel to Wanda Adams Fischer’s first novel, Empty Seats. Jimmy, after being released from prison in connection to a murder, is still plagued by the corruption going on in Walpole State Prison. He had watched his life fall apart, from almost being a successful baseball player to spending a good time behind bars. In addition to that, his mom holds the situation surrounding him responsible for what happened to his father.
Jimmy, who is eager to find his life again and pick things up where he left off, goes in pursuit of the job he was promised when he got out of prison. Much to his surprise, he met several roadblocks, and suddenly everyone he knew and loved became a target for the criminals. Debbie, Jimmy’s sister, unexpectedly found herself in danger after she rudely shunned a prison guard the day Jimmy was released. Detective DeMarco stepped in and played a role in uncovering the individuals behind the crime. They eventually discovered a web of criminal activity. Read on to find out how all these were connected to the prison and why Keeshon Washington, Jimmy’s former cellmate, was suddenly caught in the middle.
It was beautiful to see how love bloomed out of the most random experiences in this book. I love how the author lets us in on Jimmy’s thoughts, as they were always written in italics. To my delight, most of the characters were fully developed, especially Debbie’s. She displayed confidence, elegance, and poise, a kind that every lady would want to imitate. I also enjoyed the author's use of a wide range of words, making it a book that helps one improve their vocabulary.
I found absolutely nothing I disliked about this book. It only contained one typo that did not alter my reading experience in any way. Thus, I will give this book a full rating of five out of five stars.
I recommend this book to lovers of adventure and suspense-filled books. It is laden with lessons on love, acceptance, and togetherness.
