Imagine watching Jesus, the Son of God, grow from His birth to 30 years old. Cross Intents—The Baptism by S.R. Wells depicts His life through the eyes of the angels who guarded Jesus and battled demons (fallen angels) during His time on earth.

The first book, Cross Intents—The Birth, takes the reader from before the King took on flesh to the celebration of His birth in Bethlehem. This second book starts with Jesus' birth during Herod's reign and concludes with John the Baptist revealing Jesus as the Son of God through baptism.

The author brings the stories of the Bible alive by writing from the perspective of Elric, one of the angel characters. Portrayals of angels interacting, encouraging, and comforting God's people exist. The angels celebrate, sing, and dance along with God's people. Angels joyfully guide the soul to God upon death, while others comfort the grieving. While God's people do not know what is happening around them, battles between the angels and demons occur. The angels' reverence for the King was magnificent as they appeared as a heavenly host in the sky, as described in the Bible.

My favorite stories were about Joseph and Mary raising their family and finding themselves lovingly astonished by their son, Jesus. One of my favorite moments is the child kneeling in prayer at bedtime, talking to His Father in Heaven while Mary listens in awe. Another of my favorite stories is the story of John the Baptist's life. Even though readers have read the Bible stories, reading how the author weaves the stories together will be remarkable and memorable. The Bible characters readers already know will become even more dear to their hearts, especially the King, as he grows and lives his life. The author's unique telling of the Bible stories exalts and glorifies the King.

There was nothing I disliked about this book. The PDF version had minor formatting and spacing errors between and within words. Professional editing makes the book shine, as there were no typos or grammar errors. The characters were well-developed, the pacing was perfect, and the narrative flowed smoothly. The font selection and chapter art introduction are beautiful, making the book a joy to read. I wish there were drawings or sketches to help me visualize the events more clearly and fully grasp the details.

I look forward to reading the third book, Cross Intents—The Battle. I recommend that readers first read book one to enjoy the entire story of Jesus. This book is appropriate for teens and adults because of the battles and descriptions of demons. Readers, even those who are not religious, will find ancient history and angels interesting. For the above reasons, I gave the book the top award of 5 out of 5 stars.
