Cross Intents: The Baptism by Scott Wells is the second novel in the outstanding trilogy that follows the life of Jesus of Nazareth, the long-awaited Messiah of Israel. Elric, the angelic captain, and his team of warrior-angels continue their highly secretive mission from God to keep Jesus hidden from the enemy, Satan. This installation follows Jesus from His birth through His childhood and into His young adulthood. Despite the enemy's persistent scouring of Judea and surrounding areas, Elric and his team managed to keep Jesus and His family protected for as long as possible due to the guidance of the Lord. Read this book to dive into the thrilling supernatural world of angels and demons!

As much as I loved the first book in this series, this was an equally fantastic storyline. My favorite part of this book is the shifting perspective. The storyline pops between characters, including humans, Jesus, Elric's team, and even demons seeking to curse and destroy. This series changed the way I think about the world. I can picture angels fighting off demons as I try to make Godly choices, and I can imagine it so vividly, thanks to the author's masterful storytelling abilities. Spiritual warfare can be a confusing topic, as it requires faith in the unseen. The author does an excellent job of bringing this topic to life in a believable manner, which simultaneously interests and spiritually convicts readers.

I found nothing to dislike about this book. I found very few errors in the well-edited text, and I think the storyline flows smoothly between characters and timeframes. I am excited to read book three in the series as we follow Jesus into His earthly ministry and how this may change Captain Elric's mission to protect Jesus. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend this series to all Christian readers, particularly those interested in the topic of spiritual warfare. Although I highly recommend reading Cross Intents: The Birth first, this book could be read as a stand-alone novel.
