I really enjoyed the romance mystery novel Hello, My Love by Evy Journey. I had a hard time getting into it at first, but then I couldn't stop reading once the plot started rolling. Maybe after you read my review, you will understand why.
Elise Halverson is a brilliant law student concerned with graduating law school and passing her bar exam. The last thing on her mind was falling in love, until she met playboy Greg Thorpe. The two met through Elise's father who was working with Greg.
Greg is engaged to a foxy woman he has decided to settle down with. Everything seemed to go to plan, until he met Elise at her father's work. Elise changed his whole mindset on love. No matter how hard he tried to become friends, she pushed back and they butted heads.
One night at a dinner party it all changes. Greg and Elise become friends after an intellectual debate. From then on, they're always meeting at her parents' dinner parties. Then the unthinkable happens. Greg convinces Elise to come see his house one night, and they realize how much they are truly in love with each other.
One night in heaven for Greg is all it took for him to break off the engagement. But for Elise, it was all over. Elise distances herself from Greg for two years until they meet up and rekindle their love for one another, only to find there are many secrets and mysteries that have arisen.
What I liked most about the book was that the story line was well written. Hello, My Love flowed very well, despite the slow start. I really enjoyed the mystery plot of whodunit. There are so many twists and turns. The author really makes you think in this part of the story. I started to feel like I was a character in this, feeling and anticipating what would happen next.
I least liked how it starts off so slow, only gradually getting more intense and interesting once it gets to the mysterious plot. I feel the introduction of the characters could have been written better, but overall I still enjoy the storyline.
I give Hello, My Love a 4 out of 4 stars, even with how slow the story began. The rest of the story saves itself. I think the people who would really enjoy this book are ones who also enjoy romance novels and mystery novels. But if they don't like mysteries, this is not the book for them.
