The Hunger Games

I finished the series "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins. It was an awesome series. Have any of you read it, and if so what is your opinion on the series.

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you.

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Captiol surrounded by outlying districts. The Captiol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and girl bewtween the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the annuanl Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live tv.

16 year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sencetence wehn she steps foward to take her place in the games. But katniss has been close to dead before-and survial, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survial against humanity and life against love.

No, I thought the same thing but my curosity got the best of me so I read it. I loved it!!! There were deaths but the author didn't describe them so you could get a gruesome image.

I also loved the series though I thought that the first two books are much better than the third. For the first two books I couldn't put them down, I always had to know what happens next, and it wasn't like that for the third book. Still I am glad I read the third book because there is a nice closure of the whole story. Though the story seems scary and depressing it is a youth book and so it is not written in a very scary or depressing way. It could also be its weakness, talking about serious subject but handling them lightly, but still it was a very fun read.

Well I read the first book and although I enjoyed it I couldn't shake the feeling that I was reading a tame version of Battle Royale by Koushun Takami. I haven't read the other books in the series I'm an older reader and it's just not vicious enough for me.

I have read the first book, and I think it's good, but not exactly great. Sure the concept of the story is nice but I find the killing scenes a little too soft. The author could've used more harshness in her adjectives. Overall for me its an OK read but not really something pulse racing that would give you a heart attack. I'm gonna read the rest of the series and I hope it gets better. :p

Could be, but yet, in the second book they get into the arena at a late stage, I think only in the last third of the book, and yet I liked this book from the beginning.
I think the idea was that in the last book the whole Capitol will be like an arena, but it didn't work so well for me.
