Strong Heart by Charlie Sheldon is a historical fiction novel published by iron twine press, United States of America (USA) in 2017. It is a novel that tells a story of four natives of Washington and their adventures in the Olympic national park. The story is full of myths, magic and legends.

Tom and his friend William and Myra, William's daughter were preparing to go on a hiking trip in the Olympic national park to visit Tom grandfather's grave when Ruth, Tom's ex-wife appeared. She had a 13 year old girl named Sarah with her. Sarah happens to be Tom's granddaughter, who up until now, Tom was unaware of her existence. Ruth brought Sarah to stay with Tom as there was no where else for her to stay. This made Tom to contemplate whether to cancel the trip or bring her along with him. After much considerations, William and Myra advised him to bring Sarah along; so he brought Sarah along the trip that is going to be life changing for all of them.

The personality of the main characters are unique and well developed. Sarah was a little girl with an attitude at first, but during the course of the story, she developed into a strong and talented young woman. Myra who was authoritative and unwavering on her views on the history and legends of the people of North America, at last learned to accept other people's opinions or should I say, learned to agree to disagree. Tom who at first did not know how to interact with Sarah soon learned how to love and interact with her.

The author's ability to describe vividly the events of a time that is long past in this kind of story without confusing the reader is quite intriguing. This shows that he did much research in anthropology, archeology, history and legends of North America before writing this book. His ability to combine politics and biography in a story that is about history, myths, magic and legends is also commending.

I liked how continuous the story progressed without much distractions. I was engaged throughout the whole story. The suspense left me wanting to know what happens next, especially when Sarah was missing. I also like Sarah's raw talent to draw. In fact, she is my favorite character both as Sarah and as Strong Heart. I also like how the author described the scenes of the story in full detail. I was able to understand and relate to the story even though I have not been to that part of the world before. The only thing I did not like in the story was the detailed description of violent scenes in Sarah's story. It felt so real and scary. Apart from that, every other part of the story was lovely.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because the story is a nice and engaging story and there was little to no typographical and grammatical errors. I will recommend this book to anyone who likes adventures and reading about the history of a people, especially one with myths and legends.
