The Whippoorwill's Song

Just finished reading The Whippoorwill's Song by C. B. Carter on Kindle. Awesome storytelling, the best book I've read in a while. The author states it's a short story but it reads like romantic era writing, more like a novella. I think the best way to give him credit is to quote from his website:

Now this is just a quote, (the whole story is written like this but if flows so well)...

"True, I am jealous of the suns warmth, of its glow and it must be equally true, she is jealous of my humanity, my prospect for love, the passion of my nights. For the sun by its mere charisma has never seen the dark of night, whereas, I’ve seen them both and have loved under the opus of each."

I mean, no one writes like that anymore. In the end, I had hope for the true romantics in the world...

Has anyone else read it? I think this is one of those books that will just sneak up on the poetry community, it's a game changer.

I’ve read it and I don’t know what genre to place it in. It’s has many faces, at times its pure poetry, other times it’s a great love story, then, other times it’s a vampire story. I guess the best way to describe it is to say: It’s a poem in narrative. I recommend this love story to all, there is a preview on his website but I used the preview on Kindle.

I read it over the new years week break (used my amazon gift card to purchase the kindle version) and the book was great especially considering it's an unknown author. I didn't expect the level and style of writing from a little known writer. Now I find myself looking for other writers that are not on the radar and found this forum, hopefully there's another gem in here somewhere.

I'd recommend The Whippoorwill's Song to anyone who likes a well-written story about romance and love, his use of imagery surpassed all my expectations and sets a new bar for me.

Five stars...
