This book is truly one of the best I've read so far. It's about a young girl going to live with her grandpa. While the grandfather and his friends are preparing for a hike the girl appears, so they take her along thinking she will learn a few things. However, it's the girl who teaches them a thing or two about life, believing, and just having some faith.
Sarah is an amazing girl. Who is brave and so feisty. Her grandpa Tom is just as stubborn and quite grumpy at times. However, that is why it was so addictive to read. The natural flow between Sarah and Tom made the book so believable and heartwarming. Sarah's backstory and what she had to go through were heartbreaking, but it's those experiences that made her so strong and determined.
Just like Sarah and Tom, William and his daughter Myra's relationship was just as intriguing to read about. Myra is just as feisty and stubborn as Sarah if not more so. William on the other hand was the most relaxed and gentle of all the characters. I can say by far Myra became my favorite character to read about in this book, next to Sarah of course. There were several side characters. Some enjoyable to read about, others not so much. I do not mean I didn't like the characters. I just mean their personalities were not what I like to read about.
If I had to have any negatives about the book it was when it change to a completely different setting and background. I was confused for a second before I figured out what happened. The transition into the other setting could have been a little smoother. There should have been a bit more warning leading up to the switch in my opinion.
I really enjoy the history mentioned in this book and the importance about standing up for yourself and your friends. The way the author portrayed the harmony we share with nature, as well as how brutal and unforgiving it can be was wonderfully done. The plot was great with just enough twists to have you on your toes, but not lost wondering what would happen next.
I will give Strong Heart a 4 out of 4 . It was truly a great book. I downloaded it and the moment I started reading it I could not stop. It was brilliantly written. The book made me feel like I wanted to go there and at times like I was. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who would like to read about a heartouching, adventure with a very fierce girl as the lead.
