I would like to know of any writers who may fit this area of writing.

J.S Le Fanu was a nineteenth century author. Famous Gothic authors of the eighteenth century would be Ann Radcliffe, Matthew Lewis, Horace Walpole etc.

Would Johann Wolfgang von Goethe fit in there? I know he wrote some gothic fiction. Also Henry James comes to mind, his "Turn of the Screw". I don't exactly remember the year but it was included in the same group as Le Fanu and Goethe on one of my courses, so it should be somewhere in there.

I have a Henry James novel on my bookshelf that I hate to admit that I haven't read it yet. I'll move it up on my TBR list.

The only thing by him I have read is "Turn of the Screw", so I can't speak for the other stories. Hopefully they're good though! :)
