Charlotte's Web by E.B. White

Post by Butterbescotch »

I know all of you have read this book. I read it last year and I really don't find as wonderful as everyone would say. I know the words are great. Brief and simple. The theme was great. Friendship and Loyalty. But why does it deserve a boatload of rave reviews.

Please enlighten me

How interesting.

Actually, I prefer this book to read by someone to me, or by reading it allowed. I hardly ever do this, but I think speaking it out helps me to imagine vividly.

Ail.

Oh I think that's the reason. I forgot this is a children book.
But still even adult liked it. I think I'm just over analizing it :? :?

I haven't read it since I was probably twelve, but at that time it brought to life a whole new world that I wished I could be a part of!

I never felt it that way but I just read it last December. It was boring. But I don't know for a child's perspective.

Hmm. My little brother is turning twelve this May. I think I'll buy the book and see if he likes it.

I read it when I was eight...I think maybe the younger the age, it might be better. My opinion is that twelve is probably a bit old...
...and maybe for people who haven't done much reading.

My brother haven't read a book. So I guess this will be a good start.

I used to love "Stuart Little" as well.

One of the things people often forget about "Charlotte's Web", or indeed most books by E.B White, is that they were written over 45 years ago. This doesn't change the love, loyalty and friendship theme but it's not presented in a modern context. People have not changed but farming and that way of life have changed a lot since this book was written.

I read it when I was a little boy at school and I don't care what anyone says I loved it. The relationship between Charlotte and the pig was beautiful. With Charlotte's passing I think it taught us little ones a little about the inevitability of death and how powerful a true friendship can be.

I remember reading this book in the second grade thinking, "Wow, this is a thick book." (At my age back then, it was.) But I thoroughly enjoyed it at the time...

I remember watching the movie in grade 4 with the class, I thought it was nice and the pig looked cute because pigs are cool. Anyways, the book is better in someways in my opinion.
