Strong Heart is a fascinating story of how a young girl earns her Native American name and leads an adventure to save her heritage for those she seeks acceptance from. Sarah is a troubled teen, who reluctantly, goes to stay with her grandfather she has never met before. But, Tom must return into the Olympic Mountains to return an artifact that belongs with his grandfather, who lies resting in the dense forest. Sarah has arrived at an awkward time, but Tom's best friend, William, suggests Sarah go on their camping trip. Myra, William's daughter, would go to help.

An incredible journey of trails, camping and living off of the land begins. However, the Bear with a small face, had other plans for Sarah. She was the only one that saw him and the journey will connect her with her purpose and heritage for the rest of her life. Sarah's sudden disappearance terrifies all of them. They search for days and by a fierce storm, she appears battered and weak, collapsing before them, leaving them question whether She will live or die. Her story leaves them quiet. A tale of Natives, dark animals, spirit and survival will unfold to her rightful name. She is truly Strong Heart.

I, absolutely, love this book. It is truly a story of family bond and heritage. The connection between the characters leaped into my heart. True friendships that stand together for what they believe is right. As I read the words, I couldn't help but fill with emotion. Sarah's pain was heartbreaking to me. Her never quit attitude was what I admired most. She put her artistic talents to work to show what she saw through her eyes. Sarah is wise for her young 13 years, but proves to be a woman in spirit. Her mind wide open allowed her to adapt to every situation. Her determination took my breathe away at times. As I read, it made my question myself. I want that type of determination and spirit. Sarah was not afraid of anything.

Strong Heart also made me realize just how ruthless people can be when it comes to money. The Corporate world, cruel and uncaring. They do not considered historical and family values. It made me appreciate the beauty and love around me and that it is my job to protect it. It inspired me to stand proud for what I believe in and to follow my heart for spiritual happiness and purpose. We need to respect our foundation and never take for granted where we come from.

Mr. Sheldon did not leave anything out in this story. This book had turmoil and struggles, adventure and mystery with a little bit of reality slipped in. Proof that determination can accomplish anything is apparent from start to finish. A true representation of an incredible story. Strong Heart is a must read. I rated this book 4 out of 4 stars.
