Blood and Gold by Anne Rice-Finished August 20th

Post by Booklover83 »

I picked this book up last Saturday the 13th on a whim and started reading. I had not read much by Anne Rice in a long time because I had not found a book that I could get into for a long time either. I started this book a week ago last night and could not really put it down. I was amazed at Rice's descriptions of not only the characters, but the scenery and the time periods. I felt as though I was there at certain points as I was reading. The book, at least in part sucked me into itself. Marius and his love for Pandora, Bianca and Armado was so clear and believable.

I thought I had a copy of the first three Chronicle books in my book stash but when I went to find it, I figured out I had donated it to my old library. I want to read more from Anne Rice at this point and Akasha was a huge part of this particular novel that I think that will have to be read next. There are so many books that I have not read from her in both sets of Chronicles and after this book I will be reading more from her. My difference I think than with some other reviewers is that I have not read Interview, Lestat, or Queen of the Damned so I went into this novel with no pre-text from previous novels and I think that was best. I have to say, I thought this book was a great read and relatively quick! I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good read that does indeed suck you in. :)

It is indeed a very good read. I found it in my school library and was taken to it immediately after reading the summary itself. The way the author explained the details were simply detailed and it really brought me to another world for an hour. It was really an interesting book to read and it also brings us back to the historical times.

This is a good book. You're right, it can definately stand on its own but I can't read books out of order lol. My favorite from the Vampire Chronicles is Memnoch the Devil, but I love them all.
