This was such an easy and fun read! I found there were definitely changes from the movie as was to be expected, but it made the book better. The whole idea of one woman obsessing over a few pounds here and there was a bit off putting because of the way society hauls people into that issue, especially women but again, it added to the story. I loved the style of the book (diary) because it made the story flow and gave a great plot. In some ways I am glad I read this after the movie but I am also kind of wishing I had read the book first. It is hard to explain what I mean but the whole book was just a fun ride and I could hear all the accents throughout reading the book. I would recommend this book for a light summer read or to just enjoy a weekend read. I got through it in just two days and would read it again!

I found the book better as it was more detailed but that is just my opinion. I love the movie for a good giggle.

I haven't read nor watch Bridget Jones. But reading the posts, I will be soon!

It is a sequel and it has also made to a film.

I loved the book when I read it a long time ago. I just sat in my bedsit at the time and laughed out loud. The movie has been on tv recently. I still enjoy it immensely. It is my favourite book of all time.

Is the sequel book worth reading? The films are great fun. It's not pc but it's good fun. Colin Firth is my heart-throb.

I have just received Bridget Jones's Diary and Edge of Reason. Actually, it is an omnibus by Helen Fielding. Hopefully, would be able to begin tonight.

Yesterday, I finished reading Bridget Jones's Diary. Initially, I was slightly baffled by a weight obsessed woman, who appears to spend all her time in making diary entries, weighing herself every few hours, counting calories, pounds and cigarettes with an almost religious zeal, bitching about men and yet madly craving for her Boss's attention. But, as I read on, I began to like Bridget. She appeared adoringly clumsy and a die hard optimist and I was laughing out loud at her imaginary pregnancy and weight issues. In my heart, I really wished that she gets over cunning Daniel and finds true love. Bridget did impress me as a character.

However, I just did not like the slang ridden journo style narrative. I think, its impersonal narration distanced me from forming any bond with the book. At times, in fact, I was just reading the novel cursorily almost as I would glance through shop catalogues. Not really impressed with the novel as such and, at best would rank it as an okay time pass

I read this book so easily and quickly that when i had finished it, i started it all over again. Such a funny read as well, i loved the entire concept of Bridget. And whats sad is that women are really like that with the few pounds here, a few pounds there. And Bridgets thinking of being the unresistable sex goddess had me laughing so hard i scared my husband. Loved it. Looking forward to reading the Edge Of Reason for sure.
