I think I'd recommend this book as a family read so they can see how to get closer. At times, parent-child relationships can be rigid and not have the the right foundation of communication so this book does shed light on the importance of a parent child relationship

I've always felt that books focusing on first hand narratives of parent-child relations should be read by both a parent and a child! Or at the very least, discussed.

It is a good family read, though I also believe that people should not expect everything to go well just because they practise good parenting. There is a lot that goes unmentioned which may weigh into how the family behave with each other.

This is an interesting view. I think the experience of Hillary, Claire and Bridget can help us relate to the different parenting they got. Thus what type of personalities they are.

Im going to have a daughter soon. I think I’m going to read the book now and, if I like it, I will probably follow the advice and re read in few years time when she is a teenager and we can read it together and discuss it. It’s something I want to try to do regularly with her so can be useful to have already one on my list for the future!
