I agree that an amusement park is not the place for this kind of memorial. A memorial to those who suffered in the Great Famine could have its own park, perhaps somewhere on The Long Walk. Though Bridget's argument for a memorial in the theme park was a central reason for what happened in the novel, it wasn't something I got on board with.
