Oh how I hate Seamus. He was really a manipulative guy. All I could see was a very greedy guy who couldn't even protect the one that he claimed to love. Kidnapping Claire was another turn off for me.

They absolutely were! I think he was so overcome by guilt for not protecting Bridget, and thinking more about the money he would get from the amusement park deal, that he could no longer deal with his conscience. But to use Claire like that was dreadful!

I believe they were mostly for the benefit of the readers. Shocking indeed but I see him as a victim of the author. He did not have any chance there.

Well, about Seamus, I think his greed took over him.... He was just interested in getting his cut regardless of what happens with Bridget

He was definitely a horrible person. Perhaps he thought he was in love with Bridget, but his actions were clear. The mental breakdown at the end was probably because he knew he was wrong and was indirectly responsible for her death.

The impression that I get from him as the story begins is that he's a conflicted character. He has some feelings for Bridgett, but his love for money outweighs his love for her. He also feels that he is already in too deep to back out.

Seamus had his eyes on the price and he never let anything shift his focus. His character is a very awful one but then one could learn tenacity and focus from Seamus but not the way he handled it though.

That would be very interesting if he appeared in another book and was able to redeem himself!

I think he is of selfish interest in the scene which paint his personality in the book, I love the logical way the author express his character.

No one could ever believe he would go to that extent just to achieve his plans, the author has done a good job on that area.
