I agree. Claire was the main source of humour in this story. Her humor could refresh my mood while reading this book. I think the author developed her character well to match her age.

My favourite was character was Claire. Her character was very relatable and I agree that she was the main source of humor in the story which can be dark otherwise.

I agree that Claire was the main source of humour in the story and I think this was perfect as it is most often the children in real life that bring the humour and the light heartedness. Her character was vital to the plot and very well written.

Claire brought in quite a number of humour into the story. Also, is the fact the author was able to excellently develop her character adequately. Quite admirable.

I'm sure that many parents can identify unique traits and habits that their children display too. This makes Claire a very relatable character.
The traits she identified in her children were indeed relatable. But I think on a wider scope Claire's overall relationship with her children and its profound complexities were part of what made Claire such a round character. I think had this simply been a novel portraying how the past affects Claire without the added relationships with her family it would not have been as impactful or relatable.

I sympathize with this completely; I can't count the amount of novels I've read where a supposedly 7-year-old kid either simply existed or had full adult conversations. In this book however, it feels like the author took time to reflect on her own experiences with children of a similar age to ensure to accurately represent a child. Little shows of detail and research from the author always adds some appreciation.

I totally agree. Claire reminds me of what I saw in a wedding reception where the little bride took to the dance floor and almost took the shine off the celebrant.

I agree she was my favorite character. I often feel that authors create one-dimensional child characters that don't accurately reflect the complex personalities children have. Claire was the exception. I thought she had defining characteristics that made her quintessential her and remained true to her character throughout the book

Claire is my favorite character in the story. She is full of life and love. I have never read another book which shows perfection in the character of a child. Her traits, behavior and feelings for her parents made me like her the most. Her character always made my heart fill with warmth.
