The storyline was good, but the ending was rushed and also predictable.

I thought it was a little too predictable. I pegged Seamus from the very beginning. But I did not expect the kidnapping so that was a nice twist.

It seemed a little predictable to me, and I'm not even the most well-read reader.

Such an interesting read yet annoying and very poor ending.
Wondering why the author had to speed up the ending part after writing?
The end part was that it was too predictable and overly rushed.

:no-spoil: The conclusion of the book did not appear to be the final conclusion. Perhaps this is a reflection of the author's writing style and it was done deliberately to whet the reader's appetite for the sequel that is to come! Great book by the way!

I agree that all the mystery buildup should've been explained somewhat as to why and how it was carried out. Not exactly spoon feed everything but how come no one saw anything outsides Bridget's house when the dolls were placed or when she was killed or the B&B inn where the folder was stolen or even at the hotel Sarah was murdered at.

A couple of words maybe from Dermot... Just hoping. Everything was left to the reader's imagination.
Think before you review. Read before you think. :techie-studyinggray:

The ending was a bit too predictable for me. At some point it didn't feel like mystery again. Although I wouldn't deny I enjoyed the book so much.

The beginning of the book was somewhat slow, while the ending was much faster. I think it would have been better the other way around. The ending is often the most satisfying part of a mystery novel, when everything is nicely wrapped up. Overall, I like how Gillam addressed the main mystery and subplot. The ending certainly wasn't bad, so I'll look forward to reading future books in this series.

Ferdinand_otieno wrote: 01 Mar 2020, 01:48 The book has a lot of mystery and subplots in the beginning which made for an amazing story. By the end of the book, many of these subplot and mysteries started winding down. I felt like though not all of the subplots were wraped up to my liking, the author did an amazing job wrapping up the mysteries.
Did you feel that the author did a successful job in wraping up all the mysteries in the book and the subplots?
I think the author should be commended for a job well done though it seemed hastily done and predictable.

I found the ending too obvious and easily predictable. I liked though the fact that it didn't seem abrupt.

All I can say is that the ending felt a bit predictable to me and slightly rushed. But that didn't take away from how much I enjoyed this book!

Although the ending seemed a little hasty but it was satisfying to me. Maybe the thought of a sequel resulted in an ending like that.

I read a lot of crime novels and the important thing about crime and mystery, is tension. This book tried to build up tension by foreshadowing upcoming effects. However, the downside of this is that when you get to that moment, the moment you have been hinted at throughout the book, it doesn’t do the tension justice. The ending was predictable and definitely not worthy of the story.

I think books can be analyzed in three very simple things. How do they start? Do they keep you interested? And how do they end? And this book clearly, did not end with enough punch. It felt rushed and messy, like last minute writing.
