Dermot's fate is not yet sealed I believe because he obviously got off too easy. Well lets expect more from the other series.

I totally agree with you. My fingers are crossed though, I don't want to believe the author will 'make' Dermot go free just like that.

Hehehe...
I agree...
I guess it's part of the author's arrangements in the next series.
Dermot was evil; he can't just go like that.
I'm feeling he'll have a comeback plot in the next book where he'll pay dearly for all he did.

Oh yeah, I think that he deserved much more than what he got. Based on the ending though, I think that there is a strong implication of a 2nd book. I hope we get the answers we want there! :)

Dermot is someone where I would have expected a horrific fate to befall him. However, maybe he will crop up again in a future novel.

I agree also that he got off too easily. He must pay heavily for his crimes. I hope June Gilliam would start another series where he gets to suffer so much he would wish he wasn't born.

It did seem a little rushed. And the cannibalism thing just hung out there, too. When a bad guy is that bad, I love to see them come to a justice that people can celebrate!

We are left wondering what happened to Dermot at the end. I would have preferred justice served. At the end, he is portrayed in a better light than the actual killer who was hired to do the job(s). We have a level of sympathy for him, seeing that he wanted to create the theme park for his mother. I think this part would have been better resolved.

KDJ wrote: 17 Mar 2020, 21:19 Yes, I agree he just left , but at least his dad got caught. That was kind of wierd that his dad was the assassin. I would think he would be arrested for murder inIreland because that is where it happen, even if he didn't directly do it. He just has a lot of money to get away with it. Maybe he'll resurface in the next book and Bridget can get retro justice for his evil deeds.😊
I thought it was a little random that it was his dad that did the killing too.

The author indicates that the police are looking for Dermot. As he was behind the murders, this ends up being a loose end that doesn't satisfy readers' sense of justice. I applaud Hillary's confidence in the police force, but it does make readers steam to see the villain get away instead of being behind bars! Maybe Dermot and Seamus will meet again in the future???

Great point. I think that was a huge loose end that should be more satisfying for the reader only is not handled well. But for the book that while it is a part of s series but still should stand on its own. We put to much trust in future books even if we don't know will that happen.

Sadly, that's life. I agree that Dermot was evil and deserved to suffer much more. :evil2:
Heart! We will forget him!
You an I, tonight!
You may forget the warmth he gave,
I will forget the light.

When you have done, pray tell me
That I my thoughts may dim;
Haste! lest while you're lagging.
I may remember him!

Dermot is an evil person. It doesn't matter if his hand pulls the trigger or his cash pays for it. I feel like he wasn't punished correctly. I do hope that changes in the next book. Justice is justice. Doesn't matter when it's served.
