The way the Mason treated Tau and Kalin were just awful. He pushed them and abused them and every time I read a part like that I would just cringe.

I agree that the over dependence of humans on technology is a dangerous thing. Something about that has made us act less human somehow. It brings about emotional detachment. An example is the behaviour displayed in social media. It's quite alarming.

It reminded me of the way in which African slaves were treated when they were brought to the Americas to work on the plantations. It showed me how humans have an ugly or dark side that can come out if given the right conditions. This book also serves as somewhat of a cautionary tale about the dangers of the overuse or over dependence on technology.
I totally agree with you. No one wants to be a slave even if it is for an experiment. "The heart of a man is desperately wicked" says the Bible

Science is great no doubt but the dark side is terrible. The dehumanizing aspect is when people with emotions, feelings are used to test several scientific discovery. Manson and Dennison act of slavery and pain infliction made me scared. I began to wonder if all those events happen in reality. A man's heart holds the deadliest of secrets and ideas.

I thought the most disturbing thing beyond physical torture and abuse was that the scientists called the projects "it" rather than he or she.

Dehumanization of any kind is very sad and disheartening whether it be done to a clone or humans. It ultimately leaves one with s question whether or not technology has a moral side. Imagine the cruel act on Kalin!

Mason and Dennison's evil deception from the start all along got me really upset.. I guess that was the ugliest part of the novel for me.

Really, The cutting off of the tips of Kalin's fingers and toes to give him claws was another ugly sight for me. It was quite inhumane for me.
I'm sure he did not expect anything like that to be done to him, and without his knowledge as well.

For me, the deception from mason and Dennison was evil. That's what I hate most from the story

What they did to Kalin to strip him of his humanity was inhuman, and what was more disheartening was that it was done by humans.

For me the darkest part was the brainwashing of Kalin to convince him that he was a Project, not a human. Also, the fact that both Kalin, and Tau, although capable of human reasoning, were still considered property. But psychological warfare they fought with Kalin to attempt to turn him into a submissive Project was probably the winner of all darkness in the this book for me.

The start of the book saw us read how a man's life and identity was stolen from him, then the string of lies and events that were put in place to make that happen..
It showed us the dark side of humanity.

Also the ill treatment of the clones is a sick reminder of what slave trade peddlers did in times past.

This can be seen in Star Trek the Next Generation and also Star Trek Voyager. One with an android and the other with a hollogram. Both are sentient and both have their own lives yet humanity claim dominion over them. They deny them of human rights as they are not deemed human. It's a great debate, one that I've always found highly emotive. xxx

The ugliest side of this book is human cloning. It is so terrible already. The human rights thing comes next.

The whole act of dehumanizing was so so so bone-chilling. There was no doubt that along with the agenda he had, he was also driven by the pleasure he acquired from these inhumane acts.
