The Nephilim

I didn't really like/agree with the author's portrayal of the Nephilim. According to the bible, the Nephilim were sons of God who came down from heaven, married human women, and also had children with them. They were also renowned and known as heroes of old (Gen. 6:4).

However, the author depiction them as merely slow-witted giants. What are your thoughts on this?

I don't like the author's description of the Nephilim, he made them look like dummies who just follow orders without thinking, they had no mind of their own. Their actions were influenced and ruled by Enoch.

I totally agree with you, the author realky did twist the stories in the Bible. But I really don't see any need for all this additions and twists.

This was just the authors imagination so I had no issue with how he wrote about the Nephilim.

I think the author's depiction of the Nephilim was creative even though it deviated from the Bible's information on them. What I really didn't like was that when the Flood began the Nephilim's wailing and crying out to be let into the ark was heard. This is not mentioned in the Bible and I feel that their part in the story was far larger than it should have been.

Truly the author potrayed them as slow witted but I think that's how they fit into his imagination to get the picture he has in mind.

In the old testament, the Nephelim are the children of the sons of God.

4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them.

The sons of God, if read in the context of Extrabiblical texts such as 1 Enoch or the Book of the Giants, were rebellious angels. See Jude 1:6-7, 14 or 2 Peter 2:4-6. Job 1:6, among other passages.

In 2nd temple period mythology of 1 Enoch, the giants were several hundred feet tall. They were half angel and half human hybrids.
