Jealousy, perhaps. But I don't think it is a good reason, or maybe is, if viewed from the devil's eye.

The answer to whether it was jealousy or not, only Cain and God can know. The reasons why Cain murders Abel are briefly explained in the Bible. In this book the author uses his imagination to fill in the blanks and is fully subjective. We can't analyse this book as if it is a continuation of the Bible because it is not, it is a work of fiction.

The Bible clearly says that jealousy was the reason Abel was killed by his brother. I found the author's version of the story interesting though, but it is just fiction.

As for the book's motives, I won't comment on that.
Very well said, it is because of Cain's jealousy and rage towards his younger brother that caused this sin. It is indeed explained in the Bible.

Cain's motive was simply Jealousy and envy which he couldn't control

The Bible actually specified why Cain killed Abel. And that's because he was jealous of Abel. Another thing we must know is, the Bible can be interpreted anyhow if care is not taken

I think the author correctly portrayed Cain's motives. Gen. 4:5 states that "Cain was very angry." The author described Cain as: "enraged...Cain shook violently as his anger took complete control of him...his rage was uncontrollable." Both sources mention anger as the motive for his actions.

Cain killed Abel out of jealousy. God accepted Abel's sacrifice but did not accept Cain's. Cain was rebellious; his heart was not right. The Bible says this very clearly.

Well, from the Bible, it's jealousy that instigated Abel's death. The author portrayed this act of jealousy. On top of it, he has persistently displayed displayed Cain as a hot tempered character. I believe he has done a great job

This is very true. When someone becomes envious, they are capable of doing some crazy things, more so at a time when blessings from God and parents were held in such high regard.

The purpose for Cain killing Abel within the book was jealousy and it's the same reason given in Genesis.
The only distinction I see is the author's ability to present more targeted facts as to why he thinks Cain became jealous of Abel and resorted to killing him

Jealousy is the only reason and I'm sure this is explained in the Bible.

Jealousy seemed to me the primary angle in the book.
