I don't think it was a fig or apple there wasn't any biblical record of the fruit. Apple was just what everyone calls it maybe because it's an expensive fruit.

I actually found it interesting that the fig was used as the forbidden fruit. it was the first time I had heard of it. People have generally accepted the apple as the forbidden fruit Eve ate.

No one knows for sure, it wasn't specified in the Bible. So we all had the mentality that it was an apple.

I don’t think we’ll know what the fruit was before we get to Heaven, but I don’t think it really matters. The lesson is about the disobedience, not the kind of fruit.

The Bible doesn't state if it was apple or fig. I guess the author was just trying to challenge the common myth. Some even say the fruit is metaphoric and not a literal fruit.

Well i was always told that it was an apple, but it wasn't specific I think it was later a fig because God caused it.

That detail is one we can never be sure of. Frankly it isn't important. The consequences of it's consumption are far more important.

The Bible didn't specifically mentioned it it was apple or fig, the message there is that it was forbidden, the fruit it was doesn't matter

I always assumes that it was an apple. But the Biblie isn's specific about the fruit itself. Therefore, yes, it could have been a fig or another fruit.

I had never heard anyone say it was a fig or any other fruit. God told them (Adam and Eve) not to eat of the "fruit." To my knowledge, the apple is not mentioned anywhere in the Bible, however, the fig tree is. In Mark 11:12-25 Jesus curses the fig tree as a sign the Jewish people don't accept him as the Messiah.

Could the fruit Adam and Eve had eaten in the garden have been a fig as the author portrays? Or was it actually an apple? Or, will we ever know for sure?
I can not tell, I wasn't born during the creation of time. But most likely, it would be a fig and not an apple.

The Bible doesn't tell us if it's an apple or a fig, so I think we'll never know. The Bible only called it a fruit, so let's leave at that. Although, whenever I hear about this story, an apple always comes to mind.

Yes, I agree with you and I share the same feelings about the fig tree used as well. I was confused when I saw fig tree in the book, though children illustrated Bible stories portrayed the fruit as apple.

It funny that I never had an idea of such an uncommon thing as this. I have always thought it was an apple maybe because of how the bible described the fruit to be pleasing to the eyes. Since the Bible did not specify any fruit I think any fruit that fits the bible description should go but definitely not a fig.

I think that we will never know what Adam and Eve ate from in the Garden of Eden because that is not the point. The point is that Adam and Eve went against God and sinned, which resulted in the Fall of Man-all people being born sinful. If what they ate in the Garden was mentioned then people would pay it too much attention and do to it what they have done to other mentioned characters and objects of the Bible. Like the Virgin Mary being who the Catholics worship or how the Jewish leaders "worshiped" the laws of Moses, living by law rather than by faith. So, no we will never know what they ate from in the Garden of Eden.
