We will never know. So long as the Bible did not mention any fruit in particular, we can only guess and imagine.

Nobody knows for sure the actual fruit because the bible didn't say specifically, either fig or apple, it might be non of it for all we know

I do not really know why, but since the Bible story has been told to Christians, Apple is always mentioned, so everyone just also assumes the same.

Your observations are valid, but I don't think it matters either it's apple or fig

It never really occurred to me about the particular fruit they ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. In a general concept I will say that maybe the fruit only existed in the garden of Eden as of then.

Never even heard of the theory that it could be a fig fruit apart from this book. I wonder what prompted the author to use it.

I think the fig works very well within the scene, it allows the author to play with the senses and the experience -the colour, the taste, the nectars- in a way than an apple would not allow. The author managed to give the moment some eroticism that works very well with the rest of the context.

Most of the content of the Bible are mysteries that requires the help of the Holy spirit to understand. The Adam and Eve ate may have or may have not been a fruit. However, it is clear to me that they disobeyed an instruction from God in Eden.
