Was Cain truly beyond redemption?

Post by Chinazo Anozie »

The author's depiction of Cain was one of the things I had a lot of issue with in this otherwise amazing book. My question is do you think Cain was utterly irredeemable as the book seemed to depict?

I don't think any human being is irredeemable. It may seem so due to some factors. In the case of Cain, I feel he had the capability of being better. This showed in his relationship with Eva.

Cain showed remorse. When Eva tried to kill him a second time, he understood and intact was glad she attempted to get justice for Abel. For me, this meant Cain was not irredeemable.

No, Cain was not beyond redemption. Fast forward to the destruction in Eden, the fact that Cain was in a dilemma meant he had a choice. He could have been redeemed, but he choose otherwise.

Everyone can be redeemed Cain is not an exception. But you will first of all admit that you have committed before you can be redeemed.

Christ came to redeem us back to God. I don't think any one was exempted from being able to be redeemed back to God. Cain was not beyound redemption as the author emphasized.

No Cain was not beyond redemption, Abel waited for him to join him, but he made a conscious choice to lie down at the foot of the tree in the garden. If he had gone with Abel things would have been different, but he chose not to.

I agree. I think Cain showed bits of remorse throughout his life, especially at the end. However, he simply wasn't able to carry through and repent.

The fall of man brought sin and all sin can be forgiven. I don't think Cain was beyond redemption.

Cain was not beyond redemption. The point of the really long life he was given was to give him a chance to repent. However, the problem that led to his downfall was that Cain felt he was unreedemable.

Nobody is irredeemable, so Cain too is not irredeemable. Even in the Bible, Cain is redeemable.
