This seemed to be the only part I felt was a bit in conflict with the Bible. The author overstressed the use of the mark placed in Cain. But then, this is not the Bible, but his book.

Cain's mark was his curse. It protected him but made him lonely.

I really like how the author used poetic license in his creation of the mark.

The mark was there for protection. Earlier I thought it was a symbol of a murderer but I realize it was ment for protection.

To me, Cain's Mark was a little far fetched. Quite a lot of imagining the author did.

But to think about it, it is not that really hard to imagine, as angels have been tasked with the protection of man, so Cain's mark can still covered under the poetic license.

I actually had no idea Cain had a mark, let alone who placed it there. I guess that is why I must have missed it in the book. Glad to see this insightful discussion on the matter.

At some point, I did feel that the author deviated a little, but he did put up a complete story.

Another interesting depiction by the author was Cain's mark. I thought the author really stretched his poetic license in calling Cain's mark an angel. In my opinion and from my understanding of the Bible, Cain's mark was placed by God to protect him from the harsh ramifications of his punishment. But this was different in the book

It wasn't different in the book, Cain's mark still protected him from the cruel punishment that could have been meted out on him by others on earth. I found the author's assertions to be valid. If there were no other humans on earth other than Adam, Eve and Cain as at the time, the mark was placed on him by God, who was Cain being protected from?

Cain's mark was there for the same reasons in both the book and the bible and this reason was to prevent people from carrying out their jungle justice on him and as a protection from God
