The author's writing style made his work unique and really interesting. It's peculiar

Yeah, I completely agree with you on the interactive fiction "feels" of the book's style. The book falls under fantasy/science fiction genres since most of its elements are from those (such as the lost world and prehistoric animals/vegetation), but the style feels as if I am being introduced to the settings while I am supposed to make a decision, except I am reading the decision of Grant, not mine.

You have described the writing style entirely different way and I loved that :) . Sometimes, it is difficult to comprehend the writing styles of authors. Specially, if the novel belongs to fantasy genre. :tiphat:

The fact that a lot of the usual elements of the sci-fi fantasy genre were 'finetuned' by the author, in a way that still didn't take away from the book or make it less interesting, speaks a lot about the author's unique writing style.

The writing style did feel a little peculiar, but it was entertaining just as much.

The writing style is definitely a bit different. He uses a lot of dashes, semi-colons, acronyms, italics. His writing is rather descriptive, which is nice. Sometimes the sentences are really short, it seems and other times, they feel short but they are actually longer. He doesn't use a lot of exclamation points - when Grant tells Irina that he caught someone breaking in, that was not worthy of an exclamation mark - but often times any time he cusses, then there is one...Stereotypically (at least, I think to Americans), Russians don't ever get real excited about much. So, I wonder if the writer was thinking this when he wrote it? So, to a Russian, getting your place broken into is no big deal, but cussing is very exciting. Weird.

It seems quite different. I applaud the author for going against the grain. I wonder if it was done on purpose or by accident.

I loved the way you have described the writing style. What I particularly liked was how well it was organized in parts with every chapter having a location and the date.

The writer was clearly inspired by Jules Verne. He did switch the story from a suspenseful thriller to a fantasy adventure. But the writing was good piece of narrative art.

That really puts it best. It would really make for a better engaging book if it was choices the reader could take. I will say I do like his narrative description style he really put it so I could visualize it like a movie in my head as I read along I really enjoy books like that.
