For this plot, sec had to be included because they're stranded in a place with nowhere to go and their emotions are heightened. So, it's normal for a human to act that way. It was kept the appropriate way. Too much of it would have killed the essence of the book.

I don’t believe the sexuality explicit material was necessary. It was just in there for shock value. The effects of being in Zona could have been mentioned and the consequences discussed without the scenes.

I felt like the author wanted to make the book longer using the romance part. The book would have been better without the sex scene.

For me, I disliked the sex scene in this book. It was an important adventure the sex scene only distracted me and felt so unreal.

Given the unexpected end, I think it was necessary and will play a big part in the sequel. I cannot say more without revealing the end of the book.

Honestly i found it so annoying and unnecessary. I saw the initial scene in the first part of this book as normal. Bot during the expedition it was totally off.

I don't have issues with the sex scene in this book. I felt the author added it to make the look more natural

That is quite right. Sometimes our basic human behaviours overcome what is really necessary
In definite, I found it necessary. For some exhaustive situations we come across at times it leaves a room for sexual events to occur, in my opinion I believe the author considered this when he included it in the book.

I would say, sex was not necessary in the book even though it dipicted how one can be over taken by urges of human nature despite the greater task at hand for Grant , which is that of finding his uncle.

I feel like it was mentioned too many times. I understand that the author tried to promote the effects of Zona on the expedition but mentioning the polyamorous situation once, twice, or even thrice was more than sufficient and didn't need to be repeated so frequently. I personally didn't enjoy those parts much.

Has the author depicted true human nature? Or is this inclusion just to attract readers who are fond of sexually explicit content? Is sexual content really necessary for fiction?
Well, sexually explicit contents are not necessary to make a good fictional novel. Therefore, I find it unnecessary for the author to employ sexual content.

To me, sexual content sometimes ruins the mood of the reader. It had occurred to me in prior times.

For me the, it was totally out of context and wasn't necessary at all.

Well to me the sex scene in the book wasn't bad, but it was not necessary for the context of this book. I mean, how could Grant still find time for sex in that kind of adventure?

I found it annoying. In-fact, all sexual acts during the expedition was absolutely unnecessary.

All that sex was not exactly necessary in the book. Between Grant and Irina, it could have been understandable. I think the author didn't need to make the sex happen as a result of pheromones released by certain plants. It was like people became animals for a while, sleeping with each other without control. There could have been another result brought about by the pheromones, say superpowers altering their DNA. There's just too much sex everywhere that we now need more books without sex or sex scenes...
