I am currently reading this, I am about 30% in and I think Uncle Randall is dead. The author is keeping the suspense alive just to mess with our heads lol.

I think this was just a way of captivating the minds of the readers. It's very possible that Randall won't be dead after all.

I read the book and the end is unexpected. I will not reveal whether the uncle was found alive or not but it was certainly interesting.

I an still reading. But with the way thing are at this point I cant say if Uncle Randall is dead. However, most books I have read with kind of story line probably ends with the person not dieing. Whichever way, I cant wait to see what becomes of Uncle Randall

Charity Damaris wrote: 14 Aug 2020, 01:34 The author has to make the story with lots of suspense so that the readers continue reading to find out what happens in the end. It can not be a surprise to find that Uncle Randell is very much alive. Maybe he wanted someone he loves and trust to know the important information he had.
Right!. This thoughts kept me paging through the book without putting it down, I really looked up for that ending.

Based on the other comments in this thread, I think this was pretty obvious and predictable from the very beginning

I finished the novel just of recent and realized the Uncle of Dr. Grant is not dead but I understand why the author left this to be the last thing in the novel to spur the reader's curiosity.

The missing person turns out to be alive in the majority of the stories with the similar storyline that I have read. However, I would like those who haven't read it to do so in order to learn the truth about Grant's uncle.

Is his Uncle Randall really dead, or could he be alive?

This is a mystery left to be found by reading the content of the novel, I believe Dr. Grant's uncle is alive somewhere and it is Grant's job now to find him.

though it is hard to figure out due to the level of suspense, but in my opinion uncle Randall is very much alive.

It seems most people in this forum has not completely read the book because I have and I know how it ends. Bit I think I'll keep the information to myself so as not to be a spoiler.

Grant later discovers that his uncle Randall is still alive at the end of the book. The cat which became friends with him led him to his uncle's location. And he had a child with one of the scientists who were a part of his expedition.

Well, most times when the dead's person body can't be found, the person is very much likely to be alive.

Presumed dead or missing in action in a book is most often saying, yes, that person is alive. This plot is very cliche and overused. But few authors do add the spice and proclaim death.
