Presumed Dead

Dr. Grant Taylor is called from Chicago to go through the effects of his uncle’s apartment in St. Petersburg. His uncle is “presumed dead” having never returned from an expedition in northernmost Russia. Throughout the novel Grant is tailed by various persons wanting to get at his uncle’s work.
Is his Uncle Randall really dead, or could he be alive?

I'm still reading the book. But according to the pace so far; the book has pumped so much anxiety in me, towards Tyler's Uncle. The plots are more concerned with Tyler and Irina, with thier adventurous experience up in the hills.Hopefully Uncle Randall is alive though.

Most stories that I have read with the same plot ends with the person missing to be actually alive.

Usually in this sort of fiction the ones who are presumed dead are found alive at the end. Anyway, revealing it here will be a spoiler 😬

I can't agree more. I think it's high time authors take a break from this kind of writing since it's slowly becoming cliche/too predictable.

I completely agree with the previous replies. The characters who go missing usually are alive in the end.

It is hard to say given the author's writing style. The author gives the readers all the surprise. But I would say read through the book and you will know.

I have not read the full book yet, but I think the author has done some really great tricks in keeping the suspense about Uncle Randall. At some parts I feel convinced he is dead and at other, the opposite. But till now the book is more focused towards the adventure and less towards the truth of Dr.Grant's uncle.

This is exactly what authors do. We readers have to be convinced that the character is dead for long periods in the story. uncle Randall might very well be alive.

The author has to make the story with lots of suspense so that the readers continue reading to find out what happens in the end. It can not be a surprise to find that Uncle Randell is very much alive. Maybe he wanted someone he loves and trust to know the important information he had.

I agree with previous replies, the story line is just too predictable And authors should try ending with something unexpected. 😁

People assumed to be dead are usually found alive in this kind of novels! Although this sound like a spoiler but that is how it happens!

I'm a positive that his uncle is alive and Grant will know that in the upcoming sequel, I believe that it is crucial that he remains alive.

I know the answer to this question, but will not reveal it. I do not want to spoil the book for those who of you who have not finished reading it.

I think uncle Randall is dead. The writer chose to keep that part hidden to arouse the reader's curiosity.
