Official Review: The Invention by Jeff Villen

[Following is the official OnlineBookClub.org review of "The Invention" by Jeff Villen.]

If you are like me and you enjoy stories full of battles, deceit, love, and healing, then "The Invention" by Jeff Villen is a must-read. This scifi/fantasy captures your attention from the prologue, and maintains your attention until the very last word. The gripping battle scenes and the detailed back story information all contributes to the entire plot in a way that can only be understood by finishing this wonderful piece of work.

"The Invention" follows a boy named Donald Lee Triggan and his eventful part in the story of the Three Kingdoms. Each main character that Villen introduces is provided with a back story that plays a part in the ultimate part in the final battle. When the question of "is God real?" is raised, the people begin to rise up against the kings of the Three Kingdoms. Throughout the story several enemies arise; each one has a major part to play. Watch as Don, with the help of his closest friends, go through battle after battle, and the source of the inventors' powers is revealed. Will all the enemies be defeated? Will peace return to the Three Kingdoms? There is only one way to find out, and that is to purchase your own copy, and dive into the world of "The Invention".

This book was well written. The words were similar to the style of classic books such as "Le Morte de Arthur"; however, the dialogue seemed to be slightly too modern. The dialogue was the only thing I even remotely disliked about the book. I really enjoyed getting to find out each character's back story. That gave the book a more classic feel, and it also aided the story line. There were also many explanations for the words or events that a reader might not understand. Everything in this book was clear and very easy to understand.

I rated "The Invention" a 3 out of 4 stars. I could not give it the full 4 stars because the dialogue felt lacking to me. If the dialogue had been more suited to the era conveyed then the story would have been even better. The twists and turns really kept me guessing, and I was never bored throughout the story.

I recommend this spectacular book to anyone looking for action, a little romance, treachery, and surprising twists. You will not be left wanting more. It has a little bit of everything all compiled into 361 pages. Villen definitely has a wonderful piece of work with "The Invention".
