Seriously, almost passed this by as just another book to leap on the ever-growing stack of let-me-jump-on-the-bandwagon Zombie stories out there.
Man, would I have missed out

World War Z by Max Brooks is not your (yawn) typical brain-eating zombiefest. Not even close.

Set far in the future after the Zombie Wars...the book is formatted in a series of interviews with various survivors of the wars worldwide. The passion...emotion...that he gives each character is what elevates this from "mediocre" to the outstanding. Interviews from clergy and soldiers, mercenaries and leaders, and "everyman", of course.

I saw the theatrical release with Brad Pitt...and it has very little to do with this book.

I would love to listen to the audiobook and can see a very servicable live production made from these interviews

Possibly one of the best books I have read this year...and I read a LOT.

I'm going to add this to my to read list. I haven't seen the movie yet ( from what I have seen advertised about it), it looks really good. Is the movie completely off from how to book is written or does it at least follow a little. I find that I have a hard time with movies/shows that are about whatever book its based off of, and then too much is changed. Lol. Needless to say though my interest is piqued.

There are few few throwaway lines from the book. Otherwise the only similarity is the title. The movie is entertaining in its own right...but the book is outstanding.

You may want to watch the movie first. I think if you don't you will be disappointed.

Okay I will definitely keep that in mind. I was already looking forward to seeing the movie. Now I'm looking forward to both.

I finally got to watch the movie and it was definitely interesting. Not like all the other zombie movies you see nowadays. I think my favorite part was the lack of gore! haha

Try the novel. Not a thing like the film...but outstanding in its own right!
