A woman tries to come to grips with her abusive father who disappeared and her abusive mother who died, with the help of her best friend. The two friends' families seem to have hidden connections from the past, and it quickly becomes obvious that neither the past nor the present is quite what it seems. Memories of ritualistic torture and odd demands and behavior from her father combine to make the unexpected not quite unbelievable.
