Review of Pathic
[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Pathic" by Larry Jordan.]
Marriage between an Evian and an A Dora was prohibited, but Ian Ginn went against his forefathers' rules by marrying Addison. The joining of these two would result in a pathic child, which the elderly feared might be another rise of a treacherous Dragon Lord as they fought years ago. Consequently, Ian was removed from the family and went to an unknown location. However, years later, it turns out there is still a big threat: Webo Azhi and the hidden pikes of the Dragon Lords. Pathic by Larry Jordan is a fantasy sci-fi novel that combines romance, suspense, space adventures, and mysteries to propel the story of Ian Ginn's obsession to find Webo Azhi, which spans two generations down the line to his grandson. Will Webo Azhi's reign ever be brought to an end?
The book has lots of likable aspects. There is action in the book, which is so well-detailed that you can visualize the combat. Additionally, a book can get too obvious if you can tell what will follow after a scene, but in Pathic, the author drives a good part of the book in suspense, making you turn pages helplessly. The identities of most of the characters, especially Ginn's lineage, are unveiled as the book continues, which you can't guess at first. Furthermore, the characters are relatable. Despite having supernatural powers, they display emotions like real-life humans. Also, the themes of crime, romance, and persecution efficiently drive the book's plot and make it an enjoyable read.
However, I encountered some aspects I wasn't fond of. Some terms, like Tau, Eidolon, IDiven, etc., confused me because I couldn't tell if they were names for tribes or races. It would have been better if the author had a glossary breaking down their meanings. Also, I least liked how some characters were abruptly done away with. An example is Race, who I had started liking but was eliminated from the story.
Because of the above issues, I will drop a star from the rating. The book was professionally edited, and its positives outnumbered the negatives. Therefore, I rate Pathic 4 out of 5 stars. I recommend the book to readers interested in sci-fi action and mysteries.

Despite the flaws you pointed out, this seems like an engaging novel with a mystery centered around the child of a forbidden marriage and supernatural powers. Thank you for your great review!
