The dragon kingdom of Angoleth is under siege. The evil dragon, Gaelon, demands the book of dark magic, casting a shadow of fear over the entire kingdom. Resolved to keep his only heir safe from harm, the dragon king, Cand, sends the child to the world of humans—Earth.

Soraya, now an eighteen-year-old girl, is a senior in high school with shape-shifting abilities. One traumatic encounter in Central Park had her secret coming out and turning her life forever. What would become of Soraya, and what is the future for the world she has left behind?

What I find most pleasing about the book is the storytelling. It's a simple and exciting fantasy novel that is packed with action, adventure, and romance. The novel starts off strong, with an attack on the dragon kingdom. The novel ends on a cliffhanger, leaving readers dying for the next book. The author perfectly executes the "chosen one" trope. Soraya is a strong-willed protagonist who has a distinct vulnerability for the people she has close relationships with. The book, however, did not stray away from that characterization, preventing this book from standing out among other books of the same genre. This fact extends to many other characters in the novel, such as the main antagonist, who embodies the classic villain archetype.

Angoleth's Heir by Meagan Poetschlag is a YA fantasy book that features magic, dragons, and unicorns. I recommend this book to avid fans of the genre. The book presents itself as a contemporary fantasy novel, seemingly catering to young adults. Be warned, though, that the book contains explicit themes that might make some readers uncomfortable. I would rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. Although I disliked some predictable tropes, I still gave it a high rating due to the appeal of the storytelling. There were illustrations in the book as well. It also has zero errors, demonstrating exceptionally flawless editing.

I might be old for this kind of novel and it might be too predictable for my taste but overall it seems well-developed, a great choice for young adults. Thank you for your great review!
