Review of The Kingdom of Darkness
The Kingdom of Darkness by Jeremy Nittler is a sci-fi/fantasy genre book. This book could also be described as a Christian fiction book. It told the story from the point of view of Samael. Samael was an angel, the first among his brothers. When God created Adam in the Garden of Eden, Samael grew jealous of the affection Adam received from God. In an act of rebellion, Samael stole Liyliyth, who was created to be Adam's wife. Not only that, he also tricked Eve's pet into betraying her by making her and Adam eat the forbidden fruit. And then, after deceiving his brothers, Samael aimed to take the kingdom of Zion for himself. Samael and his treacherous brothers were swiftly defeated by Michael and were cast to Earth. Lost but not defeated, Samael, later known as Lucifer, would never stop making plans to defeat God. What kind of trouble would he concoct next?
What I liked the most about this book was the author’s writing style. Written from the first-person point of view of Samael or Lucifer, I couldn't help but feel disgusted and angry at every evil plan and action he performed. The author wrote everything so well that it really made me, as a reader, embody everything that happened in the book. I also liked that the author added many creatures and storylines from Christian mythologies. Creatures and events that I had read that weren't written in the Bible were all composed very well in this book. I really want to commend the author for writing an interesting book.
Unfortunately, I don't think that there are those who wouldn't enjoy this book. Because there was a passage in this book that says that in order to outdo God's work, Satan and Liyliyth imitated God's messenger and made a man create a new religion. There are some who may disagree with it and get mad because of it. Personally, I have no problem with it, so I could say that I have nothing to dislike about this book.
There are a few errors, but they didn’t reduce the reading experience in any way. So I can say that this book was professionally edited. I gladly rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. This book was very unique and broadened my knowledge concerning the faith I believed in. In the heart of this book, it teaches about forgiveness and the never-ending love God has for all of us.
I recommend this book to Christian readers who like to read stories from a different perspective about the Bible but still receive the same message. Readers who enjoy the fantasy genre will also enjoy this book. This book is also suitable for mature readers because of the graphic scenes depicted in it. Also, as I mentioned above, I wouldn't recommend this book to readers who would easily be triggered by different opinions about religion.
