Review of Ruled by Fate
Ruled By Fate by Sam Withrow and Amelia Pinkis is a gripping fantasy book that immerses readers in Brianna Weldon's intriguing journey. It is the first book in The Forbidden Tears series, and it is a mix of romance, fantasy, and mystery.
Five years ago, Brie and her mother were attacked by beasts made from shadows. Her mom died, but she was rescued by a supernatural being called Cameron. He instructed her not to remove her necklace. This changed the course of her life. Brie decided to move to Virginia, where her best friend, Sherry, helped her get a job as a nurse. On her way, the necklace grew hot, and she removed it. The shadow beasts materialized, and Cameron swooped in to rescue her. This officially began her journey. Why were the shadow beasts after Brie? What was the significance of her necklace? Read this book to find out.
This book's high level of suspense was one of my favorite aspects. A lot of questions were racing through my head. Despite my curiosity, I refrained from skipping to the end of the book, and I was glad. I enjoyed the suspense and thrill I felt while reading the book. I was unable to put the book down. I read the book quickly because I was curious about why everything was happening.
The book had the right mix of fantasy, romance, mystery, and suspense. As a lover of romance, I especially enjoyed the subtle romance between Brie and Cameron; it was calm and sweet. My favorite character was Sherry. I admired how much she loved and cared for her best friend, Brie. I also found her amusing. While reading, we could see the wonderful character development and the writing style, which was easy to understand. Another thing I admired was the impeccable editing; I did not come across a single error. The only negative aspect I had about the book was how cliche Cameron's character was made to sound and look. It was a bit cringe-worthy at times.
For these reasons, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. The authors did a remarkable job, and I applaud them. I recommend this book to avid readers of fantasy. It is sure to grip them.
