"2394 Mirrors of the Past" by P. Roscoe is an interesting novel that fuses the existence of humans from the past, present, and future. It explains how humans lived peacefully in the past before the evolution of computers, followed by androids (robots), which led to the destruction of Earth and the eventual quest to unravel the mysterious events of the past that brought about the destruction and its consequences on human existence in the future.

The world of humans is explained to readers through three characters known as Resha, Katina (Rada), and Swallow. Resha and Katina represent the past from the 19th century to the 20th century, while Swallow represents the future in the 23rd century, where people have no knowledge of what humans have actually achieved in the past but were living a simple and primitive lifestyle with no knowledge of books, music, science, birds, seeds, colors, electricity, toilets, etc. This came to be after the disaster on Earth in the year 161 AD., in which humans are now living a primitive existence like zombies without knowledge of their past history, in a way that they could not read, write, listen to music, have access to technology, be aware of electricity, have no knowledge about the existence of birds or their different species, have no access to tap water, and were completely of the opinion that humans lived with each other without communication and silence was the norm. This was made possible by the elite, who, due to greed and wealth accumulation with the introduction of androids and giving the masses pills, eventually made most forget how to reason and think. Here, we see Swallow, a young woman from this future, join Resha and Katina on a quest to uncover the truth that led humanity to this existence, characterized by degradation in human intelligence.

This book is educational yet entertaining. Lovers of science fiction will definitely love it. Roscoe masterfully depicts a world where advancements intended for good backfire spectacularly. The invention of computers, initially created to assist humanity, paves the way for a future dominated by greedy elites who exploit technology for control. This cautionary tale resonates in our own time, urging us to be mindful of the potential pitfalls of unchecked technological growth. The narrative shines a light on the power of knowledge and education. Resha and Katina's relentless pursuit of educating their community about the forgotten past ignites a spark of hope. Their fight highlights the importance of critical thinking and knowledge in preventing future catastrophes. Furthermore, Roscoe's world-building is nothing short of captivating. The novel portrays a post-apocalyptic world where language and customs have been warped by time. This intriguing backdrop ignites our imagination, leaving us eager to delve deeper into the lives of these people and understand how their society functions.

I'd rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I don't have anything to point out as a flaw in this book. From the plot's complexity and its thought-provoking impact to its accurate world-building, the story earned the award of a masterpiece. Also, I found no grammar errors in it, which is a testament to its exceptional editing. The book can be read by lovers of science fiction from the age of 18 and above for a proper understanding of the complex theme in the plot.

The narrative explores a time when humans lived harmoniously before the advent of computers. This peaceful existence is disrupted by the rise of androids (robots), which ultimately leads to the Earth's destruction. The story then follows a journey to uncover the enigmatic events of the past that precipitated this downfall and examines the resulting impact on human existence in the future.

An Earth in peace is a science fiction concept, sadly. I don't particularly like stories in which technology seems to be the culprit of bad things, so I'm not sure about this one, though the mix of past, present, and future is interesting. Regardless, thank you for your great review!

Contrasting the Wall to a ‘mirror of the past’ in the novel, P. Roscoe ‘s ‘Mirror of the Past’Thus, ‘Mirror of the Past’ by P. Roscoe is a contemplative reflection on history and its relation to memory. Similarly to Em, Roscoe’s performances might take the form of a memoir while expressing how history becomes written on people’s skin. Pros:Some of the characteristics of a good storyteller that can be identified in the narrative are as follows: Eminence: Roscoe’s ability to capture the reader’s attention is impressive as his story is accompanied by other events that transpired in the course of history. Insightful Analysis: The book reflects on several occasions on the issue of memory and history that challenges the reader to consider his own past. Well-Researched: In the writing style Roscoe does a good job of blending facts regarding the area at the time with personal experiences. Emotional Depth: The character, relation, and plot choices of the author which have been used to create strong emotions in the narration can also be highly appreciated. Accessible Language: The corpse remains believable, comprehensible and highly readable despite the fact that the history is layered with much abstraction. Cons:Pacing: During certain sequences the pacing of the story feels slower most notably during important historical expositions that can be boring to certain readers. Limited Perspective: On the positive side, Roscoe has provided rich details of his standpoint ; on the negative side, therefore, there are numerous occasions when the missing view from outside a certain society or country or the missing analysis of events renders the book less than fully informative. Predictability: Occasionally, the storytelling derives from genres that have a rather formulaic structure, and this diminishes the candidness of the revelations made [in the memoir]. Dense Sections: To make matters worse, some chapters have a lot of information on them, and one may feel flooded with information, they may have to go over the same section over again before they get a clear understanding. Niche Appeal: Two things are different from this perspective: the focus on the historical events and personal memories may not be of interest to every reader, especially those who will be searching for a more general outline of history. Chapters in brief Here, the reader is left with deep feeling and reflections of the past through a perfect example of “Mirror of the Past.” This is a really well written book that uses prose and narrative of the author’s own biography as well as the history of New York to really make the reader care about the experiences and lives of the characters but at some points, the information can become overwhelming given the pacing of the work. It will be helpful for the readers who looking for deep reflection on how historical past rises and shapes individual and social identities, this book is enlightening and touching. However, all things considered, ‘Mirror of the Past’ is definitely an enriching property to be added to the arsenal of historical memoirs.
