"Falcon Pilot" by Jack Heape is a science fiction book in which the Federation Navy attempts to end the world war, sacrificing their lives and demonstrating immense dedication.

Commander Jake had landed in the Cygni ship and was captured by pirates who called themselves "The Collective." They were held captive for some time before being rescued by the Federation Task Force, accompanied by Dixie, who also worked in the task force. Afterwards, the pirates were overpowered and gruesomely hanged. Following the execution, Jake was given a new title, "Slayer of Sables." For Jake, hanging the pirates was not just an act of duty; he was also driven by a desire to avenge his cousin Stefan who had died at the pirates' hands. Though Jake is strong, he struggles with guilt after facing the judges and returning home to meet his sister Anna, whose lover was Stefan. According to Anna, Jake had failed to protect Stephen, which led to his death.

The story also follows Dixie's life as a strong, brave, and selfless woman. She is a Falcon pilot who almost lost her life to the collectives and is awarded for her bravery as the story progresses. Later in the book, we are introduced to CJ, who joins the Falcon pilots, and some of her backstory is revealed. Much of the book focuses on the Collective collaborating with another group in a quest to take over planet Lille and strip it of its wealth.

This book is a well-crafted sci-fi novel exploring navy and military themes, offering a gripping narrative filled with tactical space warfare and intricate political manoeuvring. Its precise depiction of futuristic naval operations and strategic battles immerses readers in a believable and thrilling universe. The writer skillfully combines sci-fi elements with exceptional character development.

I found nothing to dislike about this book. Despite being a little bulky and thought-provoking, the narrative was well-written. I had a good reading experience and learned a lot about the Navy and its dedication. I would rate this book five out of five stars, as I didn't notice any grammatical errors, indicating proper editing.

This book would be most suitable for people who love sci-fi books with a strong focus on military and navy themes. I had a good reading experience and can't wait for part four which is "To Serve with Honor."
