The book that I was chosen to review falls under the science fiction/fantasy category and the version that I was given, (I am not sure if it was completed or not), I would adequately categorize as a short book. The book is entitled “Wishes” by Leila Virou, and its theme surrounds a troubled girl who will come to experience some life-changing decisions and experiences.

One matter that I would like to address with this book is the lack of editing. As I was reading the book it was quite common to come across typographical errors such as typos or improper use of grammar. By means of word choice description was scanty in this particular composition giving it a lower grade of professionalism. I did feel that although there was a lack of description throughout the story important details were described well and the story did still flow as necessary. Another regard towards vocabulary would be that, despite the length of the book, I would not suggest this book to a young audience because of repetitive foul language.

Regarding plot line this book is expertly crafted. I feel the book is very relatable to particular audiences and surrounds the topic of being careful for what you wish for. The main character meets an odd encounter with time itself and finds herself in the midst of Greek mythology followed by the Greek Gods themselves. Many interesting plot twists follow but I felt there was no definite end to the version I was given and the book felt very incomplete.

Concerning the aura of incompleteness surrounding the book, toward the end the author seems to veer far off the plot line that was being followed and there is no identifiable climax but the narrative flow is still there throughout.

I have astonishing amounts of compliments for this book in terms of being something different, interesting and intriguing. I can describe the book as nothing other than mysteriously interesting as well as very capturing to the reader. Due to the fact that, the book also radiates around a Greek Mythology topic the book can be described as factually enjoyable as well while being hilariously clever and similarly can give one an amusing time.

Leila has produced an amazing well-crafted piece but has much room for improvement. Clarification in some areas of the book and a more defined plot line would be helpful to the development of this book. This is in my opinion a story of hope and with some work can be improved to be an astonishingly good book.

I personally rate this book at 3 out of 4 stars. The reasoning for my rating would be because the book has so many positives but is not quite at that perfection level and I will repeat, still has much room for improvement. I feel this is not a “breakthrough” piece yet but feel it is a step in the right direction but with the constructive criticism provided by myself and others the fate of Leila could be much more promising.

This book was part 1 of a 5 part series, that could be why it feels incomplete. Part 2 comes out at the end of april.
And all my proof-readers have English as their second language, not first, so that's probably why there are typos/gramatical errors.

If you send me your e-mail adress in a PM or something, I'll send you part 2 when it comes out as a 'thank you' for reading part 1 and writing such an awesome review for it. It'll still be a while, since I'm still writing it as we speak, but if you can wait... :)
