As word spread of this incredible building, people from all over began appearing, asking for sanctuary within the mighty Plexis. They became the Plexis tribe, sworn to protect each-other and their home no matter what. And they would need that courage, for there are enemies hiding in every shadow. Monsters that we never even imagined lurked in the wasteland, as well as cutthroats and savages. You always had to be on your guard, as the Plexis tribe soon found out.
I really enjoyed reading this story! The plot and characters were unique, and the setting was so well done that I felt myself wandering the wasteland along with the other refugees. This story showed us what could become of our race if nuclear war ever broke out. It showed that some would survive to build a new race, like the humans who made up the Plexis tribe. It also showed how some humans would try and conquer the lesser tribes for their gain, as shown by the corrupt citizens of the Spider City. And it showed us our greatest fear, that some would become animals again, as shown by the Thakka Cluster who worship death above all. All of these possibilities were brought to light and woven together to give you an in-depth look at what the future may bring. It allowed us a glimpse into the life inside the Plexis, taking us through the joys and sorrows that the inhabitants faced, and how they dealt with them.
I don't really have any critiques for the author. I thought it was well put together and written in such a way that draws the reader in and keeps them until the bitter end. Dialogue helped propel the story along, and the characters grew and were very dynamic. Very well done!
I give Beware of the Well Fed Man a 4 out of 4. Capps takes us into a terrifying world and shows us that not only can we survive, we can thrive. Bravery, love and selfless acts are not lost to the wilds, and the human race is stronger than we ever believed possible. I look forward to reading more of his books!
