Tachyon Tunnel 2: The Daklin Empire by Michael Gorton begins with Alex, Paula, Alexander, and Lyra’s return to Earth. After a brief recap of the first book, these and other characters take you on a journey to multiple planets within and outside our galaxy and back millions of years, hoping to find a way to prevent the militaristic Daklin Empire from destroying Earth and all life on it. On the planet Pronimos, they find a human and cyber-robot civilization with technological capabilities far more advanced than theirs. Are they allies who will help them, or are they foes? What will they discover on this journey? Will their journey change history? Will they defeat the Daklin Empire and save humanity?

Whether the character was human or a cyber-robot, their feelings and thoughts about betrayal, ethics, love, trust, etc., were palpable thanks to the author’s descriptive writing style. The author also did an amazing job of discussing the aspects of physics and philosophy in the book, making them easy to understand. The storyline recap at the beginning of the book provided a good summary of what happened in the first book of the series, making this one capable of standing alone. Each chapter begins with a thought-provoking quote. My favorite was “Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys,” by P. J. O’Rourke. Although there is a lot of humor in this quote, there is a lot of truth in it. I laughed when thieves tried to break into a computer, and all they got was a Bugs Bunny clip. I enjoyed the many life lessons in this book. One example is the importance of the foundation we are given as children and how it affects our future. The combination of science fiction, physics, philosophy, and romance flowed smoothly throughout the narrative.

I found nothing negative to report about this professionally edited book, and with all the positive aspects discussed above, I decided to give it 5 out of 5 stars. My enjoyment in reading this book makes me eager to read the next one in the series, for which the author has provided a glimpse of its storyline in this book.

Science fiction, romance, philosophy, time travel, and physics fans will enjoy this book. However, readers should be aware that it contains non-borderline profanity that may be offensive to them.

It is the amalgamation of all these genres and themes. I think I am more interested in philosophy part more than anything. I wonder how the robot civilisation views the humans, and whether there is going to be a clash between the two. Awesome review. Keep it up.

A journey on different planets, some philosophy, aliens (including robots) and science make me interested in this novel. I'd start with the first book, and the go on with a series that seems engaging. Thank you for your great review!

I read this book recently, and even though I hadn't read the first installment, I thought it was really interesting. The book's futuristic premise blends physics fundamentals flawlessly with the amazing storyline.
