Official Review- The MaddAddam series by Margaret Atwood
An interesting fact about this series- there are many different futuristic-seeming technologies that are explained in detail. After reading the series and discussing the book, Atwood released a statement noting that EVERY SINGLE technological advancement in the book- including ChickieNobs (see below for a short sneak-peak passage from the book)- are things that have already been attempted or are currently being worked on in our lives right now! This brings a sense of realness to the book in a way that makes you think, "oh crap, is this where we're heading?"
Book 1 and 2 in the series are told at the same exact times but one is from the perspective of an individual from the corporations side and the other from a "plebs" side. the 3rd book ties the first 2 together in a devastatingly amazing way. The series is so great, but who would have expected any differently from Atwood?
Another great thing about this series is it was recently picked up by director Darren Aronofsky who is planning to make it into an HBO series! how exciting is that?! i can't even begin to imagine how awesome it will be to visually see this book in action on screen. For more information, read the following article... (im not allowed to post links yet so i did my best to provide it below)

I seriously hope you guys check this out and I would love to hear your thoughts after reading!

This is a passage from the book- it doesn't give anything away but if you don't want to spoil one bit, don't read below this point!

What they were looking at was a large bulblike object that seemed to be covered with stippled whitish-yellow skin. Out of it came twenty thick fleshy tubes, and at the end of each tube another bulb was growing.
"What the hell is it?" said Jimmy.
"Those are chickens," said Crake. "Chicken parts. Just the breasts, on this one. They've got ones that specialize in drumsticks too, twelve to a growth unit.
"But there aren't any heads..."
"That's the head in the middle," said the woman. "There's a mouth opening at the top, they dump nutrients in there. No eyes or beak or anything, they don't need those."
