Heiress of Healing by Sonya Lano

Post by ktaylorcarroll »

This book amazed me! I was completely pulled into the world of the Seven Demenses- a land of seven cities that is ruled by septuplet sons. The Queen repeated tries to have the expected seven sons only to fail and bring forth a daughter.
Meanwhile, Iminique, of noble birth struggles with her overbearing father and the expectations placed on her. All she wants is to be the healer she is meant to be, but would shame her father and give up all prospects to a fitting match to do so. Outside the walls of the Seven Demense other forces and long forgotten enemies are stiring, putting the seven cities at grave risk. The forces of magic light and dark and all the shades of gray in between struggle for control of power and the Seven Demenses.
It would be impossible to fully review this book. The characters are well developed, and easy to relate to (as far as a scorned fiction character can be). The plot had so many twists and turns, and is so intriguing, that the pages just fly by! I can not wait to read more from Miss Lano. She has won a place on my bookshelf (although electronic) along with Gabaldon, Martin, and Harkness.
