Review: The Orb of Truth
In the likeness of Tolkein, Brae Wyckoff brings you an epic tale of Fantasy. This is Christian Fantasy at its best. But don't let "Christian" fool you. The Orb of Truth has its share of Sorcery, villiandry, dragons and mystics. Bloodshed and betrayal, war and defeat. It will keep you on the edge of your seat wanting to see what is behind the next ridge, or next river crossing. And just when you think it is over, well, this is just the beginning....
Voted #1 Best Christian Sci-fi/fantasy, #1 Best Indie Fantasy and #1 Best World Building book.
I am looking forward to the next in the series, The Dragon God. Book 2 of the Horn King Series. But that is not the end. The series continues with The Vampire King due out in 2015. Wyckoff is also working on the forth addtion of the series, tentively called, The Sword of the Elements.
This is my first review here. Please comment on it as I am looking forward to reviewing more and could use the opinions.
Thank you, Erich

As I read the book, I, especially in the first few chapters, I felt like I was reading a DnD game. But alas, being a Dragonlance Fan and a DnD Fan as well, that is what drew me in. The book was written very well and the characters were generated so well to fit the scenes that I felt completely immersed as well.
I would like to point out that in a few, very few places, I noted some miss-spellings and a couple of grammer errors but that the reading was so fun and fast that it did not spoil the content of the story and the message. Ane the message here is what I really like. It is hard now days to pick up a book that contains a message for readers as well. Heartfelt messages. I felt a connection with each of them from my own point of life and that is rare with me when reading. Yes I connect with characters but this was to the Heart. Mostly how the characters viewed life and being honest with family and friends as well as love. It was pure Truth. And I guess in an underlying sense, that is the theme of the book. Sometimes the message of living can be found in places not expected and in this case, from a Fantasy Novel.
I guess you can say there wasn't much not to like about the book. I rated it on Goodreads as 5 stars. I give it here 5 stars and thumbs up.

I wanted to have a fun adventure (as someone who grew up playing D&D) for everyone. I love a fast paced story not bogged down with tons of detail of every nook and cranny of the environment but still capture the essence of the situation, terrain, or town the heroes are in. There is a clear message of hope and destiny within The Orb of Truth and I brought my Christian faith into the storyline but by no means to I bash everyone over the head with religion. It's woven in the storyline and I've even had spiritualists enjoy the adventure and comment that they loved how it was Christian but not "preachy".
I'm always fascinated with who your favorite character was as you read the book. People tend to gravitate towards Dulgin the red-bearded dwarf and I tend to enjoy him myself. More of the lovely dwarven ale drinking dwarf in book #2.
May your light shine bright and blind your enemies,
Brae Wyckoff (author of The Horn King series)
PS, darn those little errors that creep up. My editor and I also saw them but after it was too late. We just had to move on and let things take its coarse. Even the best books out there have those pesky errors.
