Pick up the Shifters series by Rachel Vincent! This is my favorite series of all time and you won't be disappointed. Also the author has just put out a spinoff to the series and it is equally amazing! It's called lions share and I highly recommend it.

I'd highly recommend (and don't see it elsewhere here) 'American Gods' by Neil Gaiman. Much of his writing could possibly fall into this category, more or less- as much of what he writes deals with the magical slipping into the day to day, which is what I find so compelling about his work. But there is a lot on this list I will have to look into for myself!

There's one series that might be interesting for you. The Cassie Palmer series by Karen Chance. It does take some patience to get through the series since the first book doesn't do much to tie up the problems it presents. It introduces you to a fun world that is definitely within the urban fantasy model.

This series looks do good! I bought the first few books, but I haven't had a chance to read them yet. I keep meaning to but then I start another series, or a book from a series I've been reading comes out, and it slips my mind. Now that I'm reminded I am going to make an effort to start them next!

It really is a great series.
So much happens. Every book feels like several
And her Dorina Basarab series is also very good.

Plus...a new one comes out in November!

Hope you enjoy it!

Nice I can't wait to start! I haven't heard of the other series, I am gonna look it up on Goodreads. If you recommend it I trust you! This is by far my favorite genre and I feel like I can't really go wrong!

Hope you enjoy it!

I recently found the Urban Fantasy series Generation V by M.L. Brennan. It has a neat new take on how a vampire is made plus the policiing of other creatures and of course murder, mystery and mayham! It is on it's fourth book and I am really enjoying it.

It might not be exactly what you are looking for but you should have a look at C.S Friedman's novels.

Magister Trilogy (Fantasy)
Cold Fire (Fantasty - Sci-Fi)

Mosty
In Conquest Bord and The Wilding (Sci-Fi, urban) (Excellent!)
Madness Season (Sci-Fi)
This Alien Shore (Sci-Fi)

What I particularly like in her novels is the fact that they are more adult than teenage wich I like (excet her latest Trilogy, Dreamwalker, admitedly a teenage novel).

You might also look in to Preston & Child's Novels, specially the ones following Alosiyus Pendergast, and FBI agent following paranormal investigation. Not all good but most of them are excellent.

Try the "Daughter of Smoke and Bone" series by Laini Taylor. I've only read the first book, and can't wait to read the other two books in the series. This is an urban fantasy with a strong female lead that anyone new to the genre will easily fall in love with.

I highly recommend The Parasol Protectorate series by Gail Carriger - UF, steampunk, vampires and werewolves oh my!

Honestly though, it's quite brilliant, funny, and dry. There are also two spinoff series called Finishing School and The Custard Protocol [which I haven't read most of them yet but they're in the same vein] to read as well.
