The Ruby Circle by Richelle Mead *some spoilers*

Post by shearsk »

This is the last book in the Bloodlines Series and I was quite happy with it. I really enjoyed the whole Bloodlines series, more than the original Vampire Academy series I think, of which Bloodlines is a spin-off. I just personally found the characters more interesting I think, and I probably relate better to them.
At the end of the last book, Jill is kidnapped and most of this book is what the main characters have to go through to try to get her back. It was a fitting end book because it brought back a lot of old characters and kind of tied everyone together. Having Sydney and Adrian figure out what it's like to be married and then giving them a kid was an amazing twist but I thought they took to it pretty well. I almost wanted to cheer when Sydney managed to get herself relief from the alchemists so that her and Adrian could finally just be together and raise their family. It was about time they didn't have to hide anymore. Of course, how the child even exists is going to rock the whole vampire/dhampir world so I do wonder if Richelle Mead is going to attempt another spin-off series sometime in the future to explore that a little more.
The one thing I was a little disappointed about is that I was really hoping Sydney and Adrian were going to figure out something that would cure the insanity of spirit permanently so that spirit users could just use it freely. At the end, Adrian seems content to stay on medication and not use spirit but I never thought it was fair none of the spirit users could use their natural gift like other Moroi without long term consequences. Oh well, maybe in that next spin-off series if it happens.
